Book Honouring Portuguese Emigration Launched in Toronto

The Portuguese-Canadian community came together on Saturday, June 28, to mark the launch of Monumentos ao Emigrante – Uma Homenagem à História da Emigração Portuguesa (Monuments to the Emigrant – A Tribute to the History of Portuguese Emigration).

Held at the Peach Gallery on College Street, the event showcased the work of historian Daniel Bastos and photographer Luís Carvalhido. The book documents dozens of monuments erected across mainland Portugal and the autonomous regions of Madeira and the Azores in tribute to emigrants who left their homeland in search of better opportunities.
