Grade 8 student won gold medal in Canada wide science fair

A grade 8 student from Toronto won gold medal for her project on ‘Planetary Defense against Near-Earth Asteroids’. She She created an open-source algorithm to measure the physical properties of near-earth asteroids and used it to measure the success of the NASA Double Asteroid Redirection Test (DART) Mission in deflecting asteroid Dimorphos.

She will now represent Canada at the European Union Contest for Young Scientists (EUCYS), to be held in Brussels in September 2023.
