Trigger warning: Very disturbing CCTV footage of the Philippine ambassador to Brazil, Marichu Mauro – allegedly mistreating her domestic help inside her diplomatic residence, has been circulating online.

Mauro is allegedly seen beating and harming the 51-year-old victim, stopping when she noticed another employee entering the house. The ambassador was also allegedly seen pulling the helper’s ear and throwing a broom at her in different instances.
The ambassador has now been ordered to return home and is now being investigated. The helper left Brasilia on October 21 and is back in the Philippines, the Department of Foreign Affairs of Manila said in a statement.
In a statement, issued by the Brazil Ministry of Foreign Affairs said it had not yet been notified by the Labor Prosecutor’s Office of the complaint and, “in coordination with the other competent Brazilian authorities, will provide full support for the progress of the investigation, in accordance with the Convention of Vienna.”
Mauro was appointed as a diplomat to Brazil in 2018. Prior to which, she was assigned as consul general to the Philippine General Consulate in Milan, Italy.
