The COVID-19 pandemic undoubtedly had a large effect on this year’s U.S. presidential election, with a historical amount of Americans opting for early voting and mail-in ballots and many having their choice influenced by how candidates promised to handle the virus.
It took four days after the election to announce an official winner, as swing states struggled to count the large amount of mail-in ballots.
