How to make the most of your COVID-19 Halloween

X

Depending on where you live in Ontario, COVID-19 restrictions could make you feel like celebrating Halloween is impossible this year. While health experts are cautioning Canadians to take precautions, there are still ways you can enjoy the spooky season without putting yourself at risk.
We have found all the fun events and activities — both in-person and online — happening in the GTHA, and compiled them into one easy list.
Happy Halloween!

NIGHT OF LIGHTS
A haunting drive-thru experience in Vaughan, the dynamic lightshow features more than 700,000 flashing LED animations synced to classic Halloween tunes.

VIRTUAL STARGAZING
If you’re looking for some alien friends to spice up your Halloween fun, the Ontario Science Centre is wrapping up their Spooky Science Week with a guided look at the evening’s blue full moon, complete with a telescope livestream and trick-or-trivia.

PUMPKIN CARVING + PARADE
Staying in and carving pumpkins is a classic way to spend Halloween night, but how do you show off your creation? Why not participate in a pumpkin parade!
For those wanting to stay warm indoors, the City of Toronto is encouraging you to share photos of your one-of-a-kind jack-o’-lantern on social media using the hashtag #PumpkinParadesTO.
If you’re looking to get out of the house, Parks People are hosting an outdoor pumpkin parade on Saturday, inviting residents to come out and enjoy their local parks.

SOCIALLY DISTANCED TRICK-OR-TREATING
If you’re lucky enough to live in a region in Stage 3, Ontario health officials have put out a list of recommendations to trick-or-treat safely, including the use of face coverings and hand sanitizer. Check out our how-to post on flawlessly integrating face masks into your Halloween costume.

COVID-19 safety also extends to those passing out the candy, with recommendations to keep distant with individual goodie bags or use of tongs to hand out candy. Some are taking it a step further, getting creative with the way they interact with trick-or-treaters.
