The University of York has secured funding of 500,000 dollars, donated by the Portuguese community, for the Portuguese-Canadian History Project (PCHP). This amount will support the project’s activities over five years (beginning in April 2024) and strengthen efforts to establish a permanent chair in Portuguese community studies at the university. Gilberto Fernandes, in an interview with Omni News, emphasized the significance of this initiative for the preservation and promotion of Portuguese heritage in Canada.
