Filmmaker & SCUBA Diving Instructor

Homi Adajania

Homi Adajania received much attention for directing and co-writing Being Cyrus (2005), which was an off-beat English-Language psychological drama film. Being Cyrus was considered to be the turning point for indie-filmmakers in India as it showed that these types of films could be supported by the emerging multiplex culture at that time.

Besides being film director, he is a freelance writer and one of India’s highest level SCUBA Diving Instructors. Homi’s first Hindi-language film Cocktail under Saif Ali Khan’s banner Illuminati Films was a declared blockbuster. The film starred Saif Ali Khan, Deepika Padukone, Diana Penty and Boman Irani, Dimple Kapadia and is written by filmmaker Imtiaz Ali.

Homi’s latest project, Finding Fanny, was been written and directed by him. Finding Fanny is a bilingual film starring Deepika Padukone, Naseeruddin Shah, Pankaj Kapur, Dimple Kapadia and Arjun Kapoor and released in October 2014 garnering fantastic reviews and proved to be another Box Office success.
Homi’s short film, My Choice (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KtPv7IEhWRA), made for women’s empowerment, became an raging controversy in conservative India, for being too bold and at some levels it was misconstrued as anti-cultural. The 2-plus minute clip involved 99 women from all walks of life and stated that a woman’s choice, no matter how unconventional it maybe, is hers and hers alone to make. It received close to 10 million hits online.
