Zee Zee Theatre, in partnership with aconsortium of Canadian theatre companies, proudly announces the establishmentof Canada’s first-ever National Queer and Trans Playwriting Unit. 2SLGBTQ+emerging and mid-career theatre makers from across Canada are invited to submitapplications by July 5, 2022 for consideration in the new mentorship and playcreation program. Five artists will be selected and announced in September 2022to participate in a 10-month process, during which they will receive livingwage compensation and one-on-one mentorship as they write a new work. Thedeveloped plays will receive a one-week workshop, will be performed live andstreamed online in September of 2023. The consortium has committed to ensuringall five plays receive productions following the unit’s completion.
