Ramadan Begins: A Holy Month of Fasting and Reflection for the Muslim Community

X

Muslims around the world are observing the holy month of Ramadan, which is considered one of the five pillars of Islam. During this month-long period, Muslims fast from dawn to sunset and abstain from evil thoughts or actions. The month of Ramadan is believed to be a commandment from Allah, which teaches people self-control and encourages them to reflect on their faith.

The history of Ramadan dates back to the early days of Islam, when the Prophet Muhammad received the first revelation of the holy book Quran from Allah through the angel Jibril during this month. This event, known as the Night of Power, is considered the most important night of the month. Ramadan was established as a month of fasting in 624 AD, two years after Prophet Muhammad migrated from Mecca to Medina.

Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, and it lasts for 720 hours (four weeks and two days). During this time, Muslims fast from dawn to sunset, call upon God for peace and guidance, and contribute to society in the form of charity, known as zakat. Giving food to the poor and self-realization are some important aspects of Ramadan.

Experts suggest that during Ramadan, it is important to eat foods rich in proteins, carbohydrates, vitamins, and minerals to meet the body’s energy and nutrient needs during the day. They also emphasize the importance of drinking plenty of water to avoid dehydration.

The month of Ramadan is an opportunity for Muslims to deepen their connection with Allah, and strengthen their spiritual and moral values. As Muslims begin this month of reflection and devotion, they pray for peace and guidance, and for the gates of heaven to be opened and the gates of hell to be closed.

May this month bring blessings, happiness, and spiritual fulfillment to all those observing it.
