This spin-off of the original Law & Order drama series has achieved its own critical success and loyal audience. Law & Order: SVU (Special Victims Unit) stars Christopher Meloni, Mariska Hargitay, Richard Belzer, Ice-T and Dann Florek (from the original Law & Order) as members of an elite squad of NYPD detectives who investigate those crimes particularly difficult to resolve. Created by Dick Wolf, it has the same grittiness and edge as its host series and allows the viewer to follow cases being investigated from the initial crime scene to the resulting conclusion.
