Bacalhau Verde Esperança >>
Ingredients:
- 4 pieces of soaked codfish (Medium sized pieces)
- 1 package of cream(125gr)
- 2 or 3 chinese cabbages bok choy
- 1 package of Hickory sticks
- 2 big onions
- 2 to 3 cloves of garlic
- 3 tablespoons of olive oil
- Bread crumbs to taste
White Sauce:
- 1 cup of milk
- 1 tablespoon of butter
- 2 tablespoons of flour
STEPS:
- Boil the codfish which was previously soaked and once it has cooled take out the bones and take it apart into small pieces.
- After you have washed the cabagge, boil it. In this case Bok-Choy is what we chose but you can always use any other type of dark green vegetable that suits your taste and cut it into small pieces.
- In a big pot, add the olive oil and let it heat up, add the onions and the cloves of garlic which should be finely chopped. When the onion starts to look translucent add in the codfish. Stir it well. Add in the cabbage and the hickory sticks. Mix everything together.
- In a small pot make the white sauce with milk, butter and flour. Keep stirring it so it doesn’t stick to the bottom of the pot. When the sauce becomes thick add to the codfish and mix it in.
- Coat the oven-safe dish with margerine. Pour the mix into it. Cover it with the cream and sprinkle it with the bread crumbs.
- It goes into the oven at 385 degrees during 30 minutes or until it turns a golden colour.
- Serve with salad.
