Q. I don't have cable, where can I get OMNI Television with my antenna?
A. For our viewers who rely on antenna systems, OMNI.1 is available free and over-the-air in the Toronto area on channel 47; in London on channel 69 and in Ottawa on channel 60. OMNI.2 is available in the Toronto area, on DTV channel 40; in Ottawa on channel 14 and in London on channel 20.

Q. Why can't I get OMNI.2 in Windsor?
A. OMNI.2 is not available in the Windsor area because it is an out-of-market TV station. Windsor-based and other out-of-market Ontario cable companies must apply to the CRTC to get specific authority to carry OMNI.2 as a "distant signal" on their analog dial. For digital, no authority is needed and cable companies can add OMNI.2 to their service on digital at any time. To be sure, we suggest viewers located outside our Ontario coverage area contact their local cable provider to see if OMNI.2 may already be available to you on digital.
In the meantime, OMNI.2 is currently available across Canada to Starchoice subscribers on channel 395, and to ExpressVu subscribers on channel 217.

Q. Is OMNI Television available via satellite (Starchoice or ExpressVu) or on LOOK?
A. OMNI.1 is currently available across Canada to Starchoice subscribers on channel 343 and to ExpressVu subscribers on channel 215. LOOK carries OMNI.1 on channel 65 in Ontario. OMNI.2 is currently available across Canada to Starchoice subscribers on channel 395, and to ExpressVu subscribers on channel 216. LOOK carries OMNI.2 on channel 70 in Ontario.

Q. Where is OMNI Television available in my area?
A. If you're a Rogers cable subscriber, a list of Rogers' cable channels is available @ http://your.rogers.com/store/cable/ptv/programming/channel_lineups1.asp . However, if you receive cable television via another provider, you will have to contact your cable company for its channel line-up.

A. On the top of this page there is a button with "Schedule", point your mouse on this button then select OMNI.1 or OMNI.2 for its respective schedule.

A. Q. What does OMNI mean?
A. According to the dictionary, "omni" comes from the Latin word "omnis" meaning "all." For us, OMNI Television means "everybody, every place, all people, all stories, all communities, all the time." It's what we do -- that's why, in 2002, when we were granted a licence for a second diversity television station, we named our new channel OMNI.2. And that's also why CFMT-TV is now called OMNI.1.

Q. Why does OMNI News contain so much local coverage?
A. The primary aim of OMNI NEWS, regardless of its language of conveyance, is to inform viewers of various ethnocultural origin who have chosen to make Canada -- and more specifically, the areas reached by our television signal-- their home. Since our viewers have chosen to settle in our viewing area, we believe we have a responsibility to provide them with a blend of local and national Canadian news, in addition to international news and news from their respective homeland.

Q. Why doesn't OMNI News show more news from my homeland?
A. While we pride ourselves on consistently producing programming that is both reflective of, and responsive to, the various diverse communities that we serve, sometimes broadcast-quality news visuals from overseas are difficult to obtain. Indeed, all international programming is subject to availability.

Q. I'd like to contact someone at OMNI.1 and/or OMNI.2 for my student project.
A. Due to the high volume of requests from students we simply cannot satisfy all requests. When submitting a request please send it to info@omnitv.ca and if possible someone will contact you.
In the meantime, perhaps a search through the material on our website @ www.omnitv.ca will help you find some of the information you're interested in. We appreciate your interest and wish you good luck on your project.

Q. What is the process for proposing a programme for OMNI Television?
A. We are always interested in receiving proposals for the type of programming our viewers would like to see on OMNI Television. Please note that OMNI does not broker its airtime; all our programming is sustained by revenue generated by the sale of commercials. As well, any proposed new programme must fulfill a need not currently being met by our existing programmes.
Due to the high volume of proposals, we cannot guarantee that your request can be met. When sending a request, please ensure that the following areas are addressed prior to contacting OMNI Television. Among the criteria we look for when assessing programme proposals:
- Profile of ethnocultural group to be served;
- Language of proposed programme;
- Talent and financial resources to be used;
- Access to production facilities;
- Community support;
- Advertising potential.

Q. Why does the audio on OMNI sound like the radio?
A. This situation occurs when your television has its SAP (Secondary Audio Programming) function turned on. You will be able to hear OMNI Television audio when the SAP function is returned to the 'off' setting.
